Robert 'Hot Rod' Rodriguez is an Austin Texas Blues and Southern Rock legend.

Robert subs for Diamond Simon and the Roughcuts when not rockin it out with Vagabond, an up and coming Southern Rock band also from Austin, Texas.

Robert's motto is "Lets do It !" ...

Robert was born in Harlingen, Texas, the son of a U.S Army Sgt., and traveled the world as a kid. Robert learned discipline from his dad ... "He ran a tight ship, but at the same time, he was cool and laid back".

Blessed with musical talent from his mother Olivia, who played piano, Robert received his first guitar as a Christmas gift at age 8. The Doors were hot that year, and fame and fortune beckoned. Robert also played Trumpet in Jr. High, and at Roosevelt High School in San Antonio,Tx. Robert's preferred musical styles include Blues/Jazz, Southern Rock, Country, and new wave Tejano music.

Robert first picked up bass guitar and sang vocals for Bobby Hernandez & Frenz Group from 1991-1994. After a brief respite, Robert joined Diamond Simon & The Roughcuts in 2004. Robert also currently holds down the low end with the Vagabond, a newly formed and up and coming Southern Rock band also based in Austin Texas.
