Songs written during his time with the Roughcuts, and performed with the band, included Crime Pays, Sweet Sweet Trouble, NFG and others.

Steve says:

"Born in Fort Worth, and raised in the steamy marshes of Alvin, Texas, I have lived in Austin since 1984.

I hold a degree in Math from UT Austin, so "I'm not just a pretty face." A classically trained bassoonist, I taught myself the saxophone "so I could get free beer."

I also enjoy travel, sailing, cooking, dancing and detective novels."

Steve was cool in school too.
Here he is featured with bassoon
in the Alvin High School year book.
